Cockroach Janta Party Threatens Massive September 5 March to Delhi Police HQ Over 3 Unmet Demands Following Paper Leak Protests
The student and youth outfit Cockroach Janta Party has announced a major mobilization in New Delhi on 5 September 2026, warning that it will resume nationwide demonstrations over what it describes as unfulfilled government commitments. The youth group stated that out of the 4 key demands agreed upon during high-level ministerial discussions a month ago, 3 critical demands remain unresolved. The planned march is set to begin at India Gate and proceed toward the New Delhi Police Headquarters, led by affected students, youth groups, and families of victims.
The confrontation stems from the aftermath of a 37-day protest at Jantar Mantar concerning paper leak controversies and systemic issues in competitive examination governance, which was held alongside a 26-day hunger strike by activist Sonam Wangchuk. The organization formally called off its agitation on 25 July 2026 following direct talks with Union Ministers J P Nadda and Jitendra Singh, after receiving assurances that their primary grievances would be addressed by the administration.
In a detailed public statement, the organization specified the 3 pending demands that remain unresolved:
* Full financial compensation for the families of deceased aspirants and victims.
* The immediate withdrawal of all FIRs and the cessation of coercive legal proceedings against student protesters.
* A formal public apology from the Rapid Action Force and Delhi Police over alleged excessive use of force during crowd-dispersal operations.
The youth group cited its digital archive titled Black Monday Record, which documents alleged police actions during the July crackdowns, including the deployment of tear gas, baton charges, pellet guns, and physical confrontation by unbadged security personnel. The group stated that the record contains 11 specific questions concerning accountability and administrative oversight that remain unanswered by authorities.
The legal aspect of the dispute has also reached the Supreme Court, which on 18 August 2026 sought a consolidated list of all FIRs filed across various states to review them collectively, while ordering that eligible detained students be released and shielded from coercive action for the time being. Party spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka warned via social media that the group would not back down if written assurances were delayed further, calling on student bodies and citizens to assemble at India Gate on 5 September 2026 for a peaceful march to demand structural accountability in student welfare and exam administration.
