The assault took place during the evening hours after the young girl and her teenage companion arrived at the historic Kalkaji Mandir to offer prayers. Around 7:30 pm, the pair walked over to sit inside the nearby Astha Kunj Park, an open recreation space spread across a large area. While they were sitting together, three men intercepted them, claiming that they were undercover police personnel conducting checks. The men accused the teenagers of inappropriate conduct, demanded explanations, and threatened to take them into police custody unless they followed instructions.
The situation turned terrifying when the impersonators separated the teenagers. While one of the attackers forcibly restrained the girl companion, the other men dragged the minor deeper into secluded bushes. Brandishing a firearm and a knife, the men threatened to kill them if they raised an alarm. The trio then subjected the girl to sexual assault before fleeing through park exits into the dark.
