Mumbai Police Visit YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia’s Home Amid Investigation, Find It Locked

Mumbai, February 14, 2025 – In connection with the ongoing investigation into controversial remarks made on the YouTube show India’s Got Latent, teams from the Mumbai and Assam Police visited the residence of podcaster and YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia on Friday. However, upon arrival, they found his home locked, according to reports from PTI.

Police Probe & Summons Issued

Allahbadia, widely recognized for his BeerBiceps YouTube channel, has been under scrutiny following his statements on comedian Samay Raina’s now-deleted YouTube show. Officials stated that when attempts were made to contact him, his phone was switched off.

A police official confirmed that Allahbadia was summoned to appear at the Khar police station on Thursday, but he failed to show up. Consequently, a second summons was issued for Friday. However, instead of appearing at the station, he requested authorities to record his statement at his residence, a request that was denied.

Multiple FIRs Registered Against Creators

The controversy escalated when FIRs were lodged against Allahbadia and others, including YouTubers Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, and show host Samay Raina. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed on February 11 that the Guwahati Police had filed a case against them for allegedly promoting obscenity and engaging in explicit discussions.

The charges fall under multiple legal provisions, including:

  • Sections 79, 95, 294, and 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023
  • Section 67 of the IT Act, 2000
  • Sections 4 and 7 of the Cinematograph Act, 1952
  • Sections 4 and 6 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986

With the investigation ongoing, Assam Police officers arrived in Mumbai on Wednesday and met with senior officials at Khar police station. Additionally, Maharashtra Cyber authorities have summoned at least 50 individuals for questioning, including participants from India’s Got Latent.

Apology from Ranveer Allahbadia & Content Removal

Following the backlash, Allahbadia issued a public apology earlier this week, admitting to poor judgment in making the remarks. Meanwhile, Samay Raina deleted all episodes of India’s Got Latent from his YouTube channel, which had gained millions of views before removal.

Expressing distress over the situation, Raina shared on social media:
“Everything that is happening has been too much for me to handle. I have removed all India’s Got Latent videos from my channel. My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.”

Legal Battle Ahead

As of now, Ranveer Allahbadia has approached the Supreme Court, seeking the consolidation of multiple FIRs against him. Meanwhile, Mumbai and Assam Police continue their investigation, and further developments in the case are anticipated in the coming days.
