PM Modi Inaugurates Sindhu Hospital in Hyderabad Owned by Dr Bandi Parthasaradhi Reddy Facing Past Offshore and Land Allotment Controversies
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Sindhu Hospital a modern 1500 bed cancer focused super specialty hospital in HITEC City Hyderabad on May 10 2026. The Prime Minister praised the new facility for its focus on latest technology innovation and efforts to provide better healthcare to people in Telangana and nearby regions. Located in the heart of the tech hub the hospital aims to offer advanced treatment especially for cancer patients at reasonable costs. During the event PM Modi met the founder Dr Bandi Parthasaradhi Reddy and appreciated the initiative to strengthen medical infrastructure in the state. Many local residents see this as a positive step that can reduce the need for patients to travel long distances for specialized care.
The hospital is promoted by Dr Bandi Parthasaradhi Reddy who is a Rajya Sabha MP and Chairman of the Hetero Group one of India's big pharmaceutical companies. Sindhu Hospital comes with state of the art equipment and modern facilities for diagnosis treatment and patient recovery. It is expected to treat thousands of patients every year and generate employment for doctors nurses and other staff. The project shows the growing involvement of private groups in building quality healthcare services. People in Hyderabad are hopeful that the hospital will make high end cancer treatment more accessible for ordinary families who often face huge medical expenses.
At the same time the inauguration has brought attention to past issues linked to the owner. Dr Bandi Parthasaradhi Reddy and Hetero Group were named in the 2017 Paradise Papers leak. According to reports from the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists his name appeared in connection with offshore entities in Malta such as Hetero Malta Limited where he served as director and legal representative. The group had clarified that the offshore company was for marketing purposes and denied any illegal activity. Additionally in 2023 the Telangana High Court cancelled the allotment of 15 acres of prime government land in Khanamet Gachibowli area to Sai Sindhu Foundation run by Dr Reddy. The court found the earlier 2018 allotment at a very low lease rent of around 1.47 lakh per year improper and asked the government to review it as per rules. Opposition leaders had strongly criticized the land deal calling it undervalued and against government policy. Dr Reddy has four pending cases mentioned in his election affidavit including one under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
As Sindhu Hospital begins its journey many people in Hyderabad will watch how the facility performs in delivering affordable and high quality care. The hospital has the potential to become an important centre for cancer treatment in South India. While past controversies continue to be discussed the focus now shifts to how well the new hospital serves common patients. With strong backing from the Prime Minister the project has received good visibility and is expected to bring better medical facilities closer to home. The coming months will reveal the real impact of Sindhu Hospital on the health needs of thousands of families in the region.
