Television News Channels Warned by Ministry Against Promoting Anti National Content and Violent Visuals

The federal information ministry has taken strong notice of recent media trends and released a comprehensive advisory for television news networks operating across the country. The directive focuses heavily on maintaining public harmony and urges networks to strictly follow the set rules for media broadcast. Authorities highlighted that panel discussions and live talk shows must be carefully monitored so they do not trigger social tension or public panic.

Particular attention was drawn to daily television debates where loud arguments often cross professional boundaries. The government made it clear that networks must ensure their programs do not promote communal hatred or display any form of anti national attitude. Editorial teams are expected to take complete responsibility for what goes on air, ensuring that discussions stay within peaceful and lawful limits.

The advisory also addresses the growing use of modern technology, especially artificial intelligence tools in newsrooms. Broadcasters have been instructed to use generative software and digital graphic tools only for basic assistive purposes. The ministry stressed that using technology must never compromise the factual accuracy, authenticity, or emotional sensitivity of a news story.

Coverage of sensitive events like security operations and crime reporting has also come under strict scrutiny. Networks are explicitly prohibited from running live telecasts of anti terror operations carried out by security forces. Such reporting must be limited to official periodic briefings given by authorized officers to prevent compromising ongoing missions or public safety.

Furthermore, channels were advised to stop showing graphic, disturbing, or excessively repeated violent footage. Unverified crime reports and sensational stories often cause unnecessary panic among viewers, prompting officials to demand greater journalistic responsibility. Visuals related to natural disasters or major accidents must also include proper time stamps to keep reporting transparent and accurate.

The guidelines placed special emphasis on protecting vulnerable individuals, such as victims of sexual offenses, by hiding their identities completely. Additionally, news organizations were reminded to use only authentic maps issued by official government agencies when displaying geographical boundaries.

To ensure these rules are followed on the ground, the government urged media houses to strengthen their internal review systems. Regular training sessions and workshops should be organized for production staff, reporters, and transmission teams to keep them updated on broadcasting standards. Failure to comply with these guidelines can lead to strict legal action under the governing television network laws.
