43 new Chinese apps banned by Indian government.
As we all know on June 29th 2020, the government of India banned 58 Chinese apps, while other 118 Chinese apps were banned on 2nd of September 2020 under section 69A of the Information Technology. Famous apps like WeChat Reading, FaceU TikTok and PUBG were also one amongst them. The dispute between India and China has been going on since the month of May of this year when the Chinese troops tried to intrude into Indian Territories that resulted in a violence reaction in which around 20 of our soldiers and some Chinese soldiers were slayed. Hence India decided to make a major move where it blocked all the ways for Chinese Investments in the infrastructure sectors such as road and telecom and it banned 58 Chinese apps as well.
Recently, after receiving reports from Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, Ministry of Home Affairs, the government decided to block 43 new Chinese apps including AliExpress which is a famous shopping website owned by Alibaba Group. These apps were banned under section 69A of the Information Technology by The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The government officially stated that this major decision was made due to” the apps engaging in activities prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order”.
