‘Yellow Alert’ Issued by IMD for Southern Karnataka, Including Bengaluru, Heavy Rain Expected.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for southern Karnataka, particularly Bengaluru, over the next three days due to heavy rain. This weather warning is linked to an existing weather system and the formation of a low-pressure system in the Arabian Sea. The IMD predicts widespread rainfall in the southern and coastal regions of Karnataka, offering relief from the high temperatures caused by the insufficient monsoon rainfall in the state.

As per the IMD scientists in Bengaluru, the trough starting from southeast region of Arabian sea near Lakshadweep up to the west central part of the Bay of Bengal is anticipated to result in heavy rainfall.

Heavy rainfall is anticipated in southern districts of Karnataka which includes Bengaluru, Kolar, Tumakuru, Chikkaballapura, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mandya, and Mysore. Due to the upper air circulation in the region, isolated places might witness heavy rain.

Daytime drizzles and thunderstorms will be witnessed along with heavy rainfall in Bengaluru as per the weather reports. Due to the rainfall shortage of 54% deficit overall and a 43% shortfall in south-interior Karnataka, this weather shift is being significant to overcome the deficit.

Over the next 3-5 days, heavy rainfall is anticipated and water scarcity issues in the region can be sorted out. But it is also important to note that sudden shifts in weather and heavy rain can lead to floods locally. After Monday’s rainfall it is reported that several underpasses in the city have been overflowed.

The IMD has predicted both maximum and minimum temperatures where maximum is anticipated to be around 28 to 29 degree Celsius while minimum is expected to range from 19 to 20 degree celsius. Residents can undergo a cool environment from the endured sweltering conditions in recent months.

DK Shivakumar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka had visited the BBMP central control room to check the damage occurring from the heavy rainfall and floods in several parts of the city.
